- Summary:
- Fashion Co is a major, global, fast fashion retailer headquartered in Switzerland. Its United Kingdom operation currently outsources logistics to TotallyLog, a mid-size logistics services provider (LSP) whose contract is due for renewal within the year. The company currently handles both storage and domestic distribution. Fashion Co's new supply chain team, with the company for just over six months, is considering a change, including the possibility of taking the logistics operation in-house. They are outgrowing the TotallyLog facility, a supplier they feel is too expensive, not proactive enough, and lacking necessary information technology. This case study invites students to examine the thought processes of both Fashion Co teams and LSPs as they seek to determine the most important factors to take into account when choosing a logistics services provider. Student groups will role-play from the perspectives of different stakeholders to gain an understanding of all the factors involved in this decision.
