Summary:
On June 6, 2018, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) of India admitted a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) for Videocon Industries Limited (VIL) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016 (the code) for an amount of INR 649,386.30 million. Subsequently, in June 2021, based on the recommendation and approval of the Committee of Creditors (CoC), representing the financial creditors, the NCLT approved a resolution plan put forward by Twin Star Technologies Limited, a Vedanta Group holding company, which comprised the amount of INR 29,620.20 million. The above decision was contested by the dissenting creditors, setting the stage for litigation, which finally reached Supreme Court of India for order.
