Summary:
Ayon Basist, a recent management graduate from a premier business school in India, joined a consulting firm in 2021. He secured a position as a business consultant in the Business Development division at Paseo Financial Services. Basist's role is to assist the clients in selecting better funds for investment as per their investment objectives. One of his clients, Ms. Ashima Ray, is looking for investment in mutual funds. Ms. Ray requires an investment in large-cap growth funds with low risk and better return. Basist needs to help Ms. Ray select the best fund for investment considering her investment objectives and risk appetite. In this process, he decided to choose three large-cap growth mutual funds: ICICI Prudential equity savings growth, LIC MF equity hybrid C growth, and Edelweiss large-cap growth. He then analyzed the risk and return of the three mutual funds. The dilemma he faces is which large-cap fund to recommend to Ms. Ray for investment. This exercise explains the concept of risk and returns concerning mutual fund investment and how to handle the client's requirements and suggest funds for investment as per the client's risk appetite.
