- Summary:
- In 2019-20, the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM) initiated a bamboo-based cluster project in Bhaluki Salmara in northeastern India to empower women economically. Partnering with the Tripura Bamboo and Cane Development Centre, the ASRLM supported 200 members from 21 self-help groups. This case explores the journey of these women, the challenges they faced, and the successes they achieved in making their bamboo crafts reach both national and international markets. This case encourages students to analyze the impacts of strategic support on rural enterprises and to suggest methods for enhancing market reach and product value. By the end of the case study, students will be able to evaluate how free markets can incentivize the development and adoption of eco-friendly products.
