- Summary:
- In the wake of India's digital revolution, MyGov emerged as a platform envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to connect citizens and the government. Through its "Do," "Discuss," and "Poll/Survey" sections, MyGov fosters participatory governance by enabling citizens to propose solutions, engage in discussions, and influence policies. Although successful in many aspects, MyGov faces challenges including government responsiveness variations, incomplete feedback loops, moderation concerns, and communication gaps. Limited Internet access, language barriers, and minimal local-level engagement hinder inclusivity. The case study explores the role of technology in advancing effective governance, emphasizing critical success factors for technology adoption, analyzing challenges faced by technology-driven governance projects, and proposing strategies for designing adaptable technology-driven governance projects. Students are asked to analyze the challenges faced by MyGov, the technology-driven governance platform in India, and propose strategies for enhancing its inclusivity and effectiveness. In doing so, they will apply principles of technology adoption, participatory governance, and stakeholder engagement to address the issues of government responsiveness variations, incomplete feedback loops, moderation concerns, and communication gaps, while also considering how to overcome obstacles related to limited Internet access, language barriers, and minimal local-level engagement.
