Merivale entitled "The Monologue of Death" affixed to front pastedown. has bookplate of Weir Mitchell laid in, has poem "Bonne Nuit" written in ms. laid in and has numerous pencilled corrections and ms. annotations on endpapers. Copy has handwritten letter dated 21 Jan. 1891 from James Russell Lowell attached to preliminary page [1].
