- The book is a critical edition of selected journalistic texts of Jan Łada Gnatowski (1855–1925) – a priest, publicist, secret papal chamberlain, teacher, and esteemed writer who left behind a rich literary legacy. The contemporary reader can study fragments of his works arranged in thematic blocks. The volume contains the most important pieces which elicited the liveliest response in the press of that period, as well as those that were pivotal in terms of the author's political, social and religious thought. Being aware of the selective nature of the collection, the author supplemented the literary commentary on individual Gnatowski's publications with biographical information and a presentation of the historical and literary context.
