Summary:
This book aims to study theoretical categories in the works of Ernesto Laclau (1985) and Elíseo Verón (1987) that allow for analyzing political discourse related to the analysis of political discourse. It proposes to account for topics that allow reflection on a general organization of how it is possible, methodologically, to read political discourses. In this context of interdisciplinary intersections, problematizing political discourse guides the reading in seeking dialogues between the thinkers about political discourse. Both Laclau and Verón consider that discourse acquires social meaning and nothing is outside of signification. There are agreements between both thinkers on how to understand political discourse. Laclau recovers the logic of political processes by delving into discursive materialities, to account for social and political actors that disrupt borders and contours between political articulations and institutional governability; Verón, for his part, analyzes the conditions of production and recognition that circulate and produce political and social representations as significant modalities of understanding discourse.
