Summary:
People who engage in allyship in the workplace by supporting colleagues who face systemic bias have good intentions, but how they approach it matters. A meta-analysis found that the most effective allyship addresses the root causes of inequality, not just its symptoms. While signals of support validate people's experiences, mitigating problems -- removing structural barriers and changing biased workplace systems -- is the most meaningful way to create observable, lasting organizational change.
