- 《文明小史》，李伯元著。李伯元（1867-1907），名寶嘉，又名寶凱，以字行，别署南亭亭長、游戲主人、謳歌變俗人等。江蘇武進人。本書内容寫清朝末期，在帝國主義侵略之下，我國城市和農村中的巨大變化。它集中反映了當時官場對新政、新學的態度，并在一定程度上刻畫了新舊思想的衝突。書中刻畫了封建官僚對帝國主義的畏懼、屈服、獻媚；人民群衆對"洋人"和"官府"的不滿和反抗。封建統治階級對外軟弱討好，對人民却又殘酷地進行鎮壓和剥削。本書對讀者瞭解當時的歷史有一定作用。
