- 本書收録了10卷本和5卷本。因作者博學多能，故本書能够出經入史，縱横捭闔，談藝説文，語中肯綮。主要内容包括考證經史，訂正金石文字，記載有清一代掌故，品評藝文等等，還有作者在20歲之前所寫的語録，即"約言"，矚目于内政外交，顯示出作者超越時人的識見。因10卷本爲作者晚年删定之本，故本次整理以思益堂集10卷本爲底本，以五卷本作校本對勘，見于5卷本而未見于10卷本的，今概予保留，附于10卷本後，較爲完善。
