- 本書共6卷，續1卷，是作者趙翼一生零散筆記文字的彙輯。卷一、卷二是作者在京城經歷的記録，包括朝廷政事、官僚文人的行迹軼事以及科舉、軍務政事等；卷三、卷四基本是作者出仕廣西、雲南、廣東、貴州期間的經歷見聞；卷五、卷六屬讀書筆記一類，内容繁雜，似未整理。本書收入湛貽堂《甌北全集》，于嘉慶、道光、光緒年間印刷過多次。本次整理以標點爲主，對文字進行了必要的校正，并編制了目録，較爲完善。
