- 本書共18卷，主旨在于"原詩人始意"。爲此，方玉潤一反前人舊説，把《詩經》作爲文學作品來研究，主張研《詩》要"反覆涵咏"，作者之心思自能默會貫通。本書揭示了《詩經》中一些篇章的本來面目，對進一步探討《詩經》的淵源有所啓示。本書不求《詩經》的"確解""深義"，而是去領會詩人所抒發的情感，在釋義上，不明者皆注"未詳"而不穿鑿附會。本次整理，以中國科學院圖書館藏隴東本爲底本，以《雲南叢書》本參校，對方氏評語、批語作了處理，并用《毛詩序》《詩集傳》《詩經通論》三書核校，較爲完善。
