- 本書共16卷，成書于康熙十年，于嘉慶道光年間付梓。本書始于思宗甲申五月，止于康熙乙巳，凡二十餘年事。雖叙次不倫，見聞各異，而筆之所至，雅俗兼收，南明小朝廷的史事皆可見。近人研討明末農民起義和明清之際民族鬥争常引用本書。本書以杭大藏抄本爲底本，參考了曹氏藏抄本、通行諸本及《明史》《明清進士題名碑録索引》等，底本原有無名氏眉批及校勘，現以"批云"的形式用小字補入。
