- 本書共13卷，仿《世説新語》體例，分"匡贊""規諫""極諫""剛正"等三十個門類，主要收有關政治和道德教化内容的史料。本書記載唐代歷史人物的言行故事，起自唐初，下迄大曆，多取材于唐代國史舊聞。書後有"總論"一篇，表明作者的意圖：要用前事作爲鑒戒。本次點校整理以《稗海》本爲底本，以明嘉靖潘玄度刻本、《四庫》本及明人抄本殘卷爲主要對校本，并參校其他各書，擇善而從。
