- 本書共6卷，仿《容齋隨筆》之例。本書内容大致可分爲兩類，一是讀書所得，隨手札記。凡經史子集、詩詞曲畫、文字音韻等，均有涉獵。考詩的源流，究名物之根柢，訂正史實的謬誤，爲文史研究，提供了許多綫索。二是記自己所見所聞，包括士大夫文人的遺聞軼事，社會習俗，風土人情等，還記録了關于復社、東林黨等團體的史事以及汲古閣等地的藏書，都有很大的史料價值。本次點校采用借月山房本爲底本，與掃葉山房本互校，較爲完善。
