- Summary:
- This work seeks to reclaim the centrality of race relations in the intellectual production of Florestan Fernandes, challenging interpretations that fragment his trajectory into isolated phases. By emphasizing the continuities and mediations between his early studies and his Marxist maturity, the book highlights how the racial question structures his analyses of Brazilian society, the bourgeois revolution, and the paths to social transformation. Organized by Marcio Farias, the collection brings together 11 texts--including articles, a preface, and chapters--organized into four thematic axes: anthropological studies and race relations in Brazil; dependency and bourgeois revolution; Brazilian and Latin American Marxism; and Black protest and the Brazilian revolution.
