- Richard M. (Rick) Pettigrew, a Registered Professional Archaeologist with 50 years of active archaeological research experience, founded the media-focused nonprofit, Archaeological Legacy Institute (ALI), in 1999. Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, Dr. Pettigrew received his B.A. in Psychology in 1970 from Stanford University and his M.A. (1972) and Ph.D. (1977) in Anthropology from the University of Oregon. His career includes service managing archaeology programs at the University of Oregon, INFOTEC Research, and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs before moving into media with ALI. His professional expertise now spans the fields of archaeology; public education; the uses of Internet media; the development, production and distribution of audio, film and TV programs on cultural heritage and archaeology; and cultural heritage tour programs. At ALI, he runs The Archaeology Channel International Film Festival, the longest-running film festival in Lane County, has been a juror at international film festivals in France, Germany, Iran, and Italy, runs an expanding tour program, and recently launched a subscription video-on-demand platform, Heritage Broadcasting Service. He is Director and Producer of ALI’s cable TV series, Strata: Portraits of Humanity, which was launched in October 2014. .

This industry is a key part of Islay’s ancient history, and it’s origins there are the subject of local mythology. (2) “On the Roofs of Those Who Sleep”: The wandering souls of the rediscovered Necropolis of Tuvixeddu, Sardinia, serve as eternal ghosts, searching for deeper meaning in human existence. This poetic journey offers a reflection on the past, giving life to the stories and artistic legacies that have endured through time, even in the face of decay
