- Die unter dem Namen des Kirchenvaters Neilos von Ankyra überlieferte Schrift erzählt von einem Barbarenüberfall auf die Mönchskolonie auf dem Berg Sinai und vom abenteuerlichen Schicksal zweier dort ansässiger Mönche, eines alten Mannes und seines Sohnes. Letzterer wird vor den Augen seines Vaters von den Beduinen entführt. Diese wollen den schönen Jüngling dem Morgenstern opfern. Nach manch bestandenem Abenteuer findet der greise Vater ihn wieder - er ist wohlauf -, und die beiden empfangen vom Bischof von Eluse die Priesterweihe. Durch das vorliegende Buch wird ein literarisch reizvoller, jedoch noch wenig bekannter Text einem breiteren Fachpublikum zugänglich gemacht.
- The work traditionally attributed to the church father Nilus of Ancyra tells of a raid on the monastic settlement on Mount Sinai and the adventures of two monks living there, an old man and his son. The latter is abducted by Bedouins right in front of his father. They want to sacrifice the handsome youth to the morning star. After many hardships, the old father finds him alive and well, and both are ordained priests by the bishop of Eluse. With this book, a still little-known text of some literary interest is made accessible to a wider public.
