Apollonios Dyskolos ist der bedeutendste griechische Grammatiker des 2. Jh. n.Chr. Sein Buch über das Pronomen wird hier zum ersten Male in einer Übersetzung in eine moderne Sprache vorgelegt. Zu diesem Zweck wurde auch der griechische Text neu überarbeitet. Vorangestellt ist eine Einleitung in die antike grammatische Fachterminologie, die die Geschichte dieser Terminologie bis Aristoteles zurückverfolgt und so die einzelnen Übersetzungsentscheidungen nachvollziehbar macht. Gesonderte Erläuterungen erschließen den komplexen Gedankengang des antiken Grammatikers sowohl philologisch als auch linguistisch.

Apollonius Dyscolus is the most important Greek grammarian of the 2nd cent. A.D. His book on the pronoun is here for the first time translated into a modern vernacular. In doing so the Greek text was thoroughly revised. An introduction unravels the history of ancient grammatical terminology back to Aristotle and thus accounts for the decisions that had to be made in the translation. Finally, additional notes provide a philological and linguistic commentary for modern readers on the complex line of thought of the ancient grammarian.
