- Anna Mratschkowski, geb. Gansbergen (Dr. rer. pol.), ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl Soziologie/Organisation, Migration, Mitbestimmung an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
- Ludger Pries (Prof. Dr. phil.) ist Professor für Soziologie an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
- Juliana Witkowski (B.A.) arbeitet als wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft am Lehrstuhl Soziologie/ Organisation, Migration, Mitbestimmung an der Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

- Die mit Flüchtlingsschutz und Asyl befassten staatlichen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen spielen im Mittelmeerraum schon seit Jahrzehnten eine wichtige Rolle bei der Aufnahme von Schutzsuchenden. Sie wurden aber bislang kaum wissenschaftlich untersucht – ebenso wenig wie ihre Kooperationsnetzwerke.Die Beiträge des Bandes schließen diese Forschungslücke und zeigen, welche Organisationen in Griechenland, Italien, Malta, Spanien und Zypern aktiv sind, wie sie arbeiten und welchen Beitrag sie zur Aufnahme und Integration von Schutzsuchenden leisten können.

However, they have hardly been scientifically examined yet – and neither have their cooperation networks. The contributions of this volume close that gap in research and show which organizations in Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain and Cyprus are active, how they work and what they can contribute to the reception and integration of persons seeking protection.
