- Reinhard Gagel (Dr. phil.), born in 1955, improviser and ensemble-leader, teaches at University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna and leads the Department for Theory and Research at exploratorium berlin.
- Matthias Schwabe, born in 1958, improvisational musician, composer and musical pedagogue, is the founder and director of exploratorium berlin. He teaches at the Social-Pedagogical Institute Berlin and at the Berlin University of the Arts.
