- Katharina Block, geb. 1981, ist Juniorprofessorin für Sozialtheorie an der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg sowie assoziierte Forscherin am Humboldt Institut für Internet und Gesellschaft in Berlin. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Sozialtheorie, Gesellschaftstheorie, Philosophische Anthropologie, Phänomenologie, Soziologie der Ökologisierung und Soziologie der Digitalisierung. Sie hat den Arbeitskreis »Digitalisierung als Herausforderung für die Soziologische Theorie« in der Sektion Soziologische Theorie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziologie initiiert und gegründet.
- Anne Deremetz ist Soziologin. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in den Bereichen Diskurs- und Feldforschung, Devianz- und Normalitätstheorien sowie Mixed-Methods-Verfahren.
- Anna Henkel (Dr. phil.), geb. 1977, ist Inhaberin des Lehrstuhls für Soziologie mit Schwerpunkt Techniksoziologie und nachhaltige Entwicklung an der Universität Passau. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der soziologischen Theorie sowie der Wissens-, Materialitäts- und Nachhaltigkeitsforschung.
- Malte Rehbein (Dr. phil.) ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Digital Humanities an der Universität Passau. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind historische Datenwissenschaft, Kulturgutdigitalisierung sowie ethische und gesellschaftskritische Aspekte von Digitalisierung und Wissenschaft.

- Vom Algorithmus bis zum Sensor umfasst die Digitalisierung eine Vielfalt technologischer Innovationen. Ebenso facettenreich sind die Dimensionen, in denen sie die Gesellschaft transformiert und gleichzeitig von ihr geprägt wird. - From algorithms to sensors, digitalisation encompasses a variety of technological innovations. Equally multifaceted are the dimensions in which it transforms society and is shaped by it at the same time. Thre are effects on communication in the public sphere, on science and agriculture, as well as the interactions with law, the economy and ecology the contributors to this volume explore these and other aspects of digitalisation from various theoretical perspectives. In doing so, they open up perspectives that allow digitalisation to be understood and explained as socio-technical change.
