- Als Werk des großen Aristoteles ist eine Schrift Peri Kosmou (De mundo) überliefert, die das Wissen der klassischen Antike über Kosmologie, Geographie, Meteorologie und weitere Teile der Naturkunde, aber auch über die Rolle der Gottheit in der und für die Welt zusammenfasst. Im 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. hat der heute vor allem als Autor des Romans Der goldene Esel bekannte Philosoph das Werk frei ins Lateinische übertragen und dabei für eine römische Leserschaft angepasst. Eine deutsche Übersetzung von Apuleius' De mundo fehlte bisher. Der vorliegende Band macht nun beide Werke erstmals zweisprachig zugänglich und erschließt ihre Bedeutung für die antike Kultur.
- Attributed to the great philosopher Aristotle, a treatise on the universe summarized the ancient world's knowledge of God and the world. The philosopher and author Apuleius translated the work into Latin, adapting it for a Roman audience. This is the first bilingual edition to include both works, offering new insights into its significance.
