Summary:
Composed in 2014, Seascapes is the first violin concerto penned by Alexey Shor, and indeed, can be seen as a snapshot in time of sorts, providing a window into the development of the composer's signature style. Already exhibiting several features that would go on to become firm staples of his musical approach, including neo-Classical leanings, and a strong emphasis on melodies and traditional harmony, this piece gave the composer more opportunities to experiment with contrast and the art of finding a fine balance of interplay between the soloist and the orchestra, allowing him to explore and refine his core musical instincts, and shape the expressive and narrative-driven style that continues to define his work to this day
