- Summary:
- In this therapy demonstration of accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, Dr. Eileen Russell works with a client who struggles to set interpersonal boundaries and confront others. Dr. Eileen Russell begins by inviting the client to share her concerns, which leads the client to recount uncomfortable interactions with a coworker. Dr. Eileen Russell guides the client through exploring her emotional experiences as she speaks, allowing her to delve deeper into her feelings of anger and helplessness. In addition, Dr. Russell assists the client in understanding the meanings associated with her emotions and examining how family socialization experiences have influenced her emotional responses. As the session progresses, Dr. Eileen Russell helps the client identify patterns of conflict avoidance across multiple relationships, as well as instances where these patterns deviate. The session concludes with Dr. Eileen Russell encouraging the client to reflect on her experience and reminding her to use her physical sensations as cues to identify anxiety and guide her responses
