Summary:
In this video, Drs. Jonathan D. Raskin and Cheri Marmarosh discuss the philosophical tenets of and evidence base for constructive (or constructivist) therapy, as well as how it can be practically applied in psychotherapy. They then discuss the client that will be featured. In the session, Dr. Raskin works with the client to determine what brings her into therapy. Together, they explore how she personalizes others' opinions about her as being indicative of who she is. They explore how this tendency manifests in her relationship with her romantic partner and parents, primarily with her father. Dr. Raskin works with her to externalize others' opinions in order to help her feel less anxious. Finally, Drs. Raskin and Marmarosh discuss the clip, specifically examining how key concepts from constructive therapy were applied in the session
