Summary:
Practicing emotion-focused therapy (EFT) requires a keen awareness of the client's body language, breath, subtle microexpressions on the client's face, and any other nonverbal communication cues expressed in therapy. For this reason, conducting this therapy in an online setting has its challenges. Rooted in a method that integrates strategies from client-centered, Gestalt, and systemic therapies, one important aspect of EFT is recognizing patterns as they are occurring in each moment and from within a highly validating therapeutic relationship. In this video program, Dr. Rhonda N. Goldman demonstrates her approach to therapy remotely with a female client who is suffering from a deep sense of unexpressed grief and unhealed emotional wounds. During the demonstration, Dr. Rhonda N. Goldman works with the client to explore underlying emotional and interactional states while simultaneously guiding the client towards a positive transformation by empathetically examining former relationship bonds and accessing healthier emotions. In the interview, Dr. Rhonda N. Goldman discusses her work with guest host, Dr. Serine Warwar
