- Summary:
- Jeffery A. Hayes, PhD, leads a session with an adult, male client presenting with concerns about career aspirations and decision making about future career goals. Throughout the session, Dr. Jeffery A. Hayes formulates the client's indecision about future career paths as "parts of self" which are out of sync. In addition, Dr. Jeffery A. Hayes attends to the client's body language and feelings in the "here and now." Dr. Jeffery A. Hayes uses process comments to identify and to interpret the client's body language as anxiety and to identify it as discrepant from the client's value of mindfulness and stillness. Next, Dr. Jeffery A. Hayes self-discloses about his own mindfulness practices and connects this to the client's concerns. Finally, Dr. Jeffery A. Hayes uses the client's interest in mindfulness practice to encourage mindful decision making, rather than "perfect" decisions. The client connects well to this and expands on his own perceptions of mindful decision making
