Summary:
Dr. Arnold A. Lazarus works with a young man who struggles with a poor self image and feelings of not deserving happiness. The client's life history essay highlighted problems with assertiveness, perfectionism, and self-blame. Dr. Arnold A. Lazarus asked the client to close his eyes and remember scenes from his childhood. These memories focused on situations in which his father led him to understand that he did not deserve happiness. Role playing the client's father, Dr. Arnold A. Lazarus engaged the client in a discussion of the right to happiness. Ultimately the client decided to have a similar discussion with his family
