Summary:
"In the initial discussion segment, Drs. Rita Chi-Ying Chung and Fred Bemak discuss using the multiphase model (MPM) of psychotherapy, counseling, human rights, and social justice in psychotherapy with refugees. Specifically, they discuss phases of the model, as well as cultural and systemic considerations in working with refugees. In the therapy demonstration, Dr. Fred Bemak works with a volunteer client, a mother who fled Sudan. He works with her to provide psychoeducation about the process of therapy, explore her concerns and experiences, and identify ways of working together that will help her. In the last part of the video, Drs. Rita Chi-Ying Chung and Fred Bemak discuss the therapy demonstration and integrate MPM concepts throughout. The therapy demonstration in this video features a client portrayed by an actor on the basis of a composite of cases"
