- Summary:
- A newly married female client in recovery for substance abuse talks to Dr. G. Alan Marlatt about her concern over her prescription for Vicodin to relieve the pain from recent dental work. The client is cross-addicted to alcohol and drugs, and her last relapse involved pills. Currently, she is a member of Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and realizes that the Vicodin she's been prescribed must be used "in moderation," so she has given the pills to her husband to administer. Dr. Marlatt leads the client through a couple of "mindfulness meditations"--focusing on breathing--to handle urgings/cravings and any other pressing thoughts in an accepting, relaxed manner
