- Summary:
- Ann Mary Kearney-Cooke talks with a woman who has a history of "yo-yo" dieting, losing 7-10 pounds, then stopping and eventually gaining it back. She also tends to eat when stressed. The client is interested in gaining insight into why she continues this pattern. Kearney-Cooke asks the client how she felt when she was lighter vs. how she feels now; what her family's weight history is; what is a good vs. bad eating day; and what her life demands are and the resources she uses to deal with them. Kearney-Cooke makes several suggestions to help her with her weight loss, including delaying gratification; setting limits and boundaries in other areas of her life, which can help when setting limits with food; and making a pie chart of how she spends her days and how the chart would need to change to accommodate her weight loss efforts
