- Summary:
- The parents of four children--a ten-year old and three eight-year old triplets--are concerned that they have grown apart after a series of life challenges. They describe feelings of anger toward each other and a lack of intimacy. In this sixth of six sessions, the clients discuss with the therapist how they have always been future-focused rather than appreciating the positive aspects of their history together. The therapist encourages them to speculate on the strengths that have kept them together. The wife expresses that she still harbors resentment and anger toward her husband; they both note that they are not sure if they can trust their partner not to revert to old behaviors as they go forward. The therapist concludes by asking them about their level of commitment and willingness to change, thanks them for participating, and encourages them to stay in touch with him
