- Summary:
- Dr. Jon Carlson continues therapy with a female client who is seeking help with trust issues, especially involving men. She has had a problem trusting men throughout her life, and this has grown worse since her husband of 5 years cheated on her last year. The client had a setback and went through some email sent to her husband from a female friend. She was very angry and an argument ensued and she asked him why he was discussing the contents of the email with someone else and not her, he said he thought she wouldn't approve. She was too angry at the time to discuss it, and they really had not addressed the issue. Dr. Carlson notes that she no longer needs to prove to him that she is angry and hurt over the infidelity, and asked how much longer she felt she needed to punish him. Dr. Carlson suggests she look at the incident less as a setback and more as an opportunity for her to grow and learn. Dr. Carlson role-plays as her husband to rehearse what to do at home to open the lines of communication so they can continue to work on their relationship
