- Summary:
- The client reports general anxiety about her life situation: She rates herself low on both job satisfaction and ability to have fun. A single mother and self-described "people pleaser," the client devotes most of her time to her three children and church activities--the latter involving home visitations to her congregation's older members. She is also a middle child, with an older and a younger sister. Dr. Jon Carlson helps the client realize her inattention to self-care needs, such as devoting more time to an erstwhile passion (running) and finding a significant other. By diverting time away from caring for others to caring for herself, Dr. Carlson explains, the client will be better positioned to achieve balance in her life, which the client agrees will provide her with calmness and happiness
