- Summary:
- In a session with Dr. G. Alan Marlatt, the client admits that she'd resumed smoking cigarettes after 3 years of not smoking, but that she's been smoke-free for a month based on Dr. Marlatt's suggestions in previous sessions. The client--who is cross-addicted and has been treated for alcoholism and drug abuse at various rehabilitation centers, and who is also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous--reports that attending a smoke-free A.A. meeting helped with a recent nicotene craving. The client also reports that she has recently enrolled in a domestic violence counseling program, following an unspecified outburst of anger/rage from her husband against the client and her son; she attributes the episode to her husband's own possible depression. The recently married couple no longer cohabitates, and the client reports that she is thinking of divorce. Dr. Marlatt supports the client by emphasizing that she must make her sobriety a priority and then attend to the problems of significant others
