- Summary:
- In this fourth session of six, Pamela A. Hays works with an African American mother in her late 20s who recently separated with her husband and moved back in with her parents while attending school and working full time. The client originally presented in the initial session with stress related to family relationships due to earlier childhood sexual abuse. After checking in with assigned homework, Hays and the client explore examples of spiritual, emotional, and physical self-care in the client's life. In this discussion, Hays and the client converse about a disagreement with a friend the client had over the weekend. Through eliciting examples of current relationships the client currently has, Hays guides the client in identifying relationships she has continued to maintain in which disagreement exists. At the conclusion of the session, Hays and the client co-create a homework assignment through a discussion of positive and negative automatic thoughts
