- Summary:
- In this final session of six, Pamela A. Hays works with an African American mother in her late 20s who recently separated with her husband and moved back in with her parents while attending school and working full time. The client originally presented in the initial session with stress related to family relationships due to earlier childhood sexual abuse. In this last session, after checking in with homework, Hays and the client discuss the client's application of mindful focusing and other coping skills from the course of therapy. Hays highlights that the same stressors from the initial session are still present in the client's life, yet the client reports feeling less stress given new skills. Together they explore future challenges and plan how the client can overcome these obstacles through grounding herself in her values, applying mindful focusing, and centering on strengths. At the conclusion of this termination session, Hays shares her thoughts and wishes for the client
