Summary:
Dr. Tracy D. Eells works with an African-American female client in her twenties who presents with stress and anxiety. Dr. Eells gathers information about the client's overall health, family history, and present stressors, which include motherhood, graduate school, family relationships, financial concerns and familial health issues. The session focuses on the client's upbringing, being born to a single, teenage mother and subsequently raised by her grandmother until she was an adolescent. Eells and the client examine how the client's early experiences, particularly her distant relationship with her mother, affect her current life choices. Toward the end of session, Dr. Eells summarizes the client's concerns and makes recommendations to help her reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. His recommendations include stress management strategies, increased childcare, couples therapy, and individual therapy
