Summary:
Leigh McCullough works with a male client who is the parent of a 7-year-old son. Father and son have been separated for long periods of time over the course of the last several years, and the client experiences profound sadness as a result. McCullough first works with the client to work through defenses he has to experiencing his feelings. The client feels that the expression of some feelings is inappropriate in certain settings and has reflexive reactions that keep his guard in place. McCullough exposes the client to his emotions so that his fear of feelings is reduced and he begins to experience the emotions more naturally
