Summary:
Dr. Claudia Drossel talks with a woman who wants to gather information about assisted living. The client is caring for her husband's grandmother, age 91, who lives independently. The client wants to find out what options are available in case the grandmother suddenly declines. She acknowledges that the grandmother wants to stay in her own home and is currently capable of caring for herself. Dr. Drossel outlines the levels of care available, explains the ways in which facilities vary, and talks about what the client should look for in visiting a facility. The client is feeling no stress from her role as caregiver, and there is no current need to place the grandmother in assisted living. The session is focused on how to begin the transition in case an assisted living facility is suddenly needed
