"In this session, psychologist Dr. Steven J. Sandage applies the REACH forgiveness model with a Latino/Latina married couple. Each letter of the REACH cues one step to reach emotional forgiveness of others: Recalling, Emotional reprocessing, giving an Altruistic gift of forgiveness, Commitment to the emotional forgiveness experience, and Holding onto the forgiveness when doubts occur. The couple presents with interpersonal communication conflict based on the wife's anxiety over the health of her husband, and the husband's need for understanding and appreciation of his efforts. Dr. Sandage first recalls the conflict with both the wife and husband, allowing both to share their perspectives. Next, he identifies and joins both the wife's and husband's emotional needs as a way for them to communicate better by highlighting the emotions that occur during conversations. In conclusion, Dr. Sandage provides suggestions and feedback to the couple to improve their relational stress management and communication"
