"In this session, Dr. Lawrence Josephs uses integrative psychotherapy with a white, heterosexual man who is dealing with the aftermath of infidelity by a former girlfriend. Dr. Josephs integrates mentalization-based treatment with integrative behavioral approaches when working with the client. The client presents with chronic worry and anxiety when his current girlfriend is on her phone because his ex-girlfriend was chatting and cheated with other men. Dr. Josephs guides the client in becoming aware of these underlying vulnerabilities and how although they might work as self-protective coping strategies, they may potentially lead to distancing from his girlfriend. The two discuss how the client's current girlfriend may benefit if the client would share about his past and seek support from her. Dr. Josephs invites the client to discuss the origins of his excessive worry, talking about the client's parents' relationship. At the end, Dr. Josephs provides behavioral suggestions to assist the client to continue towards recovery"
