Summary:
This book explores the impact of structural racism on the lives of ten Black Brazilian women through their testimonies and dialogic analysis. Drawing on literary texts with ethnic-racial themes, the women reinterpret stories and connect them to their lived experiences of oppression, resistance, and identity formation. Their narratives address racism in childhood, work, and personal relationships, as well as issues of self-discovery, loneliness, and love. Originating in Tânia Barreira Rodrigues's doctoral thesis, the work--developed with Beth Brait--offers an interdisciplinary contribution grounded in Bakhtinian theory and discourse analysis. It is both an academic study and a collective testimony, shedding light on the struggles and resilience of Black women in Brazil.
