- Summary:
- Telling the story of art in Belgium through the lives and works of fifty women artists: this, in essence, is the ambition of Who's Afraid of Women Artists? After writing "Do Women Have to Be Naked to Get into the Museum?", Christiane Struyven now turns her attention to Belgian women artists, from 1880 to the present day. In five chapters that follow the course of time, fifty artists are presented: major figures, such as Marthe Donas and Ann Veronica Janssens, but also discoveries, like Elisabeth Ivanovsky, Akarova, and Jane Graverol. Continuing the theme of her first book, Struyven calls for the recognition of these artists, who have too often and unjustly been forgotten by history
