Summary:
Mecklenburg, early 1990s: Chief Inspector Groth is sent back to his hometown after years in the West. As a reconstruction worker in the East, he is to train colleagues in West German police work. He himself has had his difficulties with the regulations since his daughter died. But he can still rely on his instincts. When the body of boat rental agent Siegmar Eck is fished out of the local lake, Groth knows that it was no accident. Why would a good swimmer like Eck drown in the lake? And shortly after he went to see Groth and claimed he was being followed? His colleagues want to close the case, but Groth continues to investigate. And in doing so he comes across a lead that leads him to a waitress in a nearby restaurant and back to an unsolved murder case.
