Dated 20th-century manuscript inscription ("Happy Holidays and all good wishes for the New Year to Amy Springarn, Sincerely, Langston New York, Xmas, 1948.") on front free endpaper recording the gift of this volume to Amy Einstein Spingarn from Langston Hughes at Christmas 1948 in New York. Left board and backstrip detached.
