- "This is my second book about the history of the Catholic Church in Ethiopia. It refers only to the city of Addis Ababa. While the first, A short History of the Catholic Church in Ethiopia, published previously, is a book with a certain degree of 'officiality', a short of manual, this one is more of an essay, more informal, more like a family album. It is also more fragmentary with evident gaps as if there were some photographs missing in the album. (...) The events that are included are not necessarily the most important. but that which has been recorded becomes important as a result. (...) I believe that it is only by writing that events become clearer. Someone who does not agree can always give his own bersion. And that is what we need in our Ethiopian Catholic Church today; that we take up our own history with interest. If there are many reactions to this book, then it will amply fulfill its function."-- from the author's introduction.
