Aramaic; second portion (Tenaʼim) in Hebrew; autographs and additional writing in Italian.
Summary:
Illuminated ketubah on parchment, created in Livorno, Italy, Wednesday, 6 Kisleṿ 5583 (November 20, 1822); the text of the upper portion containing the names is washed off. Autographs of rabbinical overseers Samuele Coen (two Italian and two Hebrew tuǧra autographs); David ben Refael Meldola (later of the Spanish and Portugese Community, London); and Abraham Pardo Roques. Final Ketubah addition in Italian, dated Livorno, 3 December 1822, undersigned "E. Padoa".
Notes:
Title devised by cataloger.
Three municipal seals of the city of Livorno in the outer corners.
Written in a formal Sephardic cursive script, in multiple hands.
Decoration: Frame patterns of stenciled birds (in blue goache) and geometric hexagonal crosses in greens; border text (from Ruth IV:11 and Proverbs XVIII:22); upper vignette with a floral and scroll border around the text בסימנא טבא ובמזלא מעליא.
